📍 The Spyglass Inn, Ventnor, Isle of Wight.
We’ve been frequent visitors to the Isle of Wight for the past 30 years, I’ve been every summer since I remember and I just love the place so much! We find ourselves visiting The Spyglass Inn every time we’re over there and perched on top of the rocks in Ventnor, it’s one of the most beautiful pubs on the Island.
Having been open for 30 years now these guys know their stuff, and offer speciality local ales, locally sourced ingredients and freshly caught seafood caught right out in the channel and sold by the fishermen in Ventnor Bay which you’ll see below!
What do we love here the most? The salads!
I’ll start by noting that these salads are served fully stacked so make sure you’re hungry and have room to polish it all off! The plates are massive, and packed full of seasonal fresh, crunchy salad, homemade coleslaw, a super tasty homemade mixed bean salad, perfectly cooked eggs and the most delicious toppings!
The Prawn and Crab salad comes in at £15.50 but for the amount of food you’re getting here and the beautifully fresh seafood its WELL WORTH IT! I’m not sure if the Scampi salad is still on the menu, but again this is well worth trying! They aren’t skimping on portion sizes here, I mean… 8 bits of scampi! You can bet I was super full afterwards!
The Spyglass Inn will always be a place we’ll come back to and we have such fond memories here as a family. Through all the years and the countless times we’ve visited its always been one of our favourites, from this alone we’ll continue coming back! When the sun is shining on the Island, you’ll find it gets super busy here. If you’re looking to sit out on the terrace you’ll need to make a quick rush to grab a table and seats! I will also note this is a doggo friendly pub! If you do ever visit, the view from the restaurant over the English Channel is wonderful, and paired with drinks, gorgeous food and a gorgeous sunny day you’ll be laughing! Goodbye worries, hello gorgeous food!
