Bloomsbury Street Kitchen

๐Ÿ“ Bloomsbury Street Kitchen, Bloomsbury, London

This is currently our favourite restaurant in London!

Perched right near the British Museum, Bloomsbury Street Kitchen is an absolute delight of a restaurant! They offer contemporary Mediterranean and Japanese small plate dining in beautiful surroundings. Think porcelain tiles, exposed brickwork, chilled house music playing while you eat, flourishing green plant life and intimate round cushioned booths.

We wanted to try so much of the menu here, and thankfully it’s all designed for sharing so you’ll get to try a lot of gorgeous food!

We started with some Japanese flat tacos – Seared beef tenderloin with wasabi and shichimi mayo. Just delicious! Albeit small, the flavours of the beef and wasabi complemented each other beautifully! A great mix of crunch and butter soft beef!

Swiftly after came the Crispy-spiced lamb bites – very Moroccan in flavour and nicely spiced these little parcels of joy were gorgeous! Made fresh and super hot (watch those fingers and tongues!) I’d definitely recommend giving them a go if you’re feeling something a little spicy or after some authentic curry flavours.

When looking at the menu before we came we knew we had to try the Gyros – one of our favourite street food treats! These are the Spicy chicken gyros with chilli fries and tzatziki. SO moreish! Quite big too surprisingly, and chock full of flavour! A little kick from the chilli on the fries but cooled down with the fresh tzatziki! The slow cooked glazed lamb shoulder variety are 100% on my radar when we come back here. You’re given two per portion too so perfect for sharing!

We finished with the best of the bunch!

28-day-aged rib-eye steak with warm Gorgonzola butter and the Baked cod with Parmesan garlic butter.

The steak – This was the star of the show for me! Ribeye is my favourite cut so I knew there would be plenty of flavour. It was so tender, like knife through butter tender, the accompanying cheesy buttery sauce was just perfect with it and cut through the real meaty flavour. I know this is designed to share, but we both agreed we would have this on our own next time! It’s so good we didn’t want the steak to end!

The Baked cod was equally as delicious – super fresh, beautifully cooked massive flakes of white cod in a buttery garlicky sauce – just beautiful! Even Mike, who is not the biggest lover of fish, tucked in with delight and surprise!

This is such a fantastic restaurant, really contemporary, super friendly waiters and waitresses who will answer any questions about the menu and give you their favourites for consideration. The cocktails are fantastic too! This absolutely delicious food should be shared, but keep the steak for yourself and thank me later! We’ll absolutely be back to Bloomsbury Street Kitchen as there’s so much more we want to try from the menus!

A definite favourite and a fantastic discovery!
